DataForSEO for WordPress Rank Tracking: Setup, Limits and Cost Control
DataForSEO can provide reliable SERP data for rank tracking, but the cost should be controlled deliberately. Start small, verify credentials and expand only after the first results make sense.
Use API login and API password
DataForSEO uses API credentials. These are not always the same as the normal account password. If credentials are wrong, API tests usually return authorization errors.
Verify the account before testing
New accounts may need verification before API requests work. If a test returns a verification or permission error, fix the DataForSEO account first before changing the plugin.
Choose search depth carefully
Depth 30 is often enough for a first test. Depth 100 or 200 can be useful for deeper diagnostics, but it can increase cost. The important question is whether the ranking is actionable.
Set a daily API limit
A daily limit protects the budget. For a small site, start with a handful of keywords and one device. Add mobile, Seznam or more countries only when you know the monthly cost.
What SEO Rank Radar sends
For rank tracking, the plugin sends the keyword, domain, search engine, device, location code, language code and depth to the configured SERP provider. It stores the position, found URL, title and competitor data in WordPress.
